FYSCP Community of Practice (CoP)

The Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP) Community of Practice (CoP) is a casual meeting space open to all FYSCP Coordinators and FYSCP program staff. The meeting is to connect with FYSCP colleagues and members of the Technical Assistance Program (TAP) team to discuss relevant and valuable topics important to the FYSCP community. An FYSCP program is also selected for each meeting to share and highlight their work with attendees.

Budget Fiscal Forms Training for Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP)

Description: The CDE Grant Administration and Support Office is hosting a beginner to intermediate training for FYSCP. The focus will be on the Budget Fiscal Forms, various resources, and other important information.

Wellness and Self-Care Series

Description: This opportunity guides participants to learn how to infuse more wellness into their daily lives. Together, we will focus on personalizing what works well for each participant and integrating daily practices into our busy schedules. Introduction to The Neurosequential Model

Presenter: Dr. Bruce Perry


Description: The Neurosequential Model has had global impact - informing professionals in a broad array of disciplines throughout the world. The approach has been embraced by parents and caregivers, psychiatrists, physicians, policy makers, law enforcement, clinicians, educators and coaches. As the approach is adopted by communities that work to help children grow, the concepts of neurodevelopment are incorporated into their core understanding across multiple settings including clinical (therapeutic) settings, schools, caregiving settings, sport, foster and adoptive care settings, etc. In this presentation, Dr. Perry will review the Introduction to the core concepts of the Neurosequential Model that has been taking place across multiple settings in California which inform staff of the protective factors and key concepts and provide an understanding of how a child’s brain works through their life experiences and trauma. NMT Training Certification, NME Training, and the complementing Introduction to the Neurosequential Model trainings which teach staff how to approach family communication, are enhancing protective factors to support youth develop positive coping skills, and build positive social networks that support the youth’s self- regulation.

FYSCP Regional Meetings 

Regional meeting attendance is a grant requirement for all FYSCPs. The meetings are intended for the FYSCP primary coordinator contact. Additional FYSCP lead staff may attend as needed. The FYSCP coordinator should attend the meeting for their designated region whenever possible and may attend one regional meeting for each fall and spring session. The primary FYSCP Coordinator contact must download the Notice of Designee Participation for Required Event Form and send a completed copy to the CDE team at fosteryouth@cde.ca.gov if they are not attending a required event.
