The Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP) Community of Practice (CoP) is a casual meeting space open to all FYSCP Coordinators and FYSCP program staff. Trauma Responsive Schools for Educators Working with Students in Foster Care

This webinar will provide an overview of the effects of trauma and a deeper understanding of how trauma specifically impacts students in the foster care system. Description: The newly updated, Understanding the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) is a six-module training developed by The Neurosequential Network to help school counselors, administrators, teachers and support staff understand the basic concepts of the Neurosequential Model in Education. All sessions are 1.5 hours in length and facilitated by the FYSCP TAP Team.
There are 25 spots available to FYSCP staff and their LEA partners who are interested in learning more about the concepts of NME before applying for the NME trainer program.

Regional meeting attendance is a grant requirement for all FYSCPs. The meetings are intended for the FYSCP primary coordinator contact. Additional FYSCP lead staff may attend as needed. The FYSCP coordinator should attend the meeting for their designated region whenever possible and may attend one regional meeting for each fall and spring session. The primary FYSCP Coordinator contact must download the Notice of Designee Participation for Required Event Form and send a completed copy to the CDE team at fosteryouth@cde.ca.gov if they are not attending a required event.

Session 1: FYSCPs Only
This session is required for FYSCP Coordinators. Additional FYSCP staff may also attend. The session will highlight why Best Interest Determinations matter for school stability including the need for transportation in preparation for a joint meeting with Child Welfare partners in the afternoon.
Session 2: FYSCPs and Child Welfare
This joint session, facilitated by the California Department of Education (CDE), will bring together County Office of Education Foster Youth Services Coordinating Programs and County Child Welfare partners, in each region, with support from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA). Together, we will focus on strengthening cross-system collaboration and highlight effective local practices that promote school stability and continuity for students in care.
Who should attend from Child Welfare?
Child Welfare managers, supervisors or social workers with direct service experience and knowledge of their county’s AB 2083 System of Care MOU.
What should you bring to this session?
