Understanding the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) developed by The Neurosequential Network. Designed for school counselors, administrators, teachers, and support staff, the training introduces participants to the foundational concepts of the Neurosequential Model in Education and its application within school settings.
The six modules (90-minute sessions) are facilitated by the FYSCP TAP Team. This training provides an excellent opportunity for FYSCP staff and their LEA partners to deepen their understanding of NME principles, build trauma-informed practices, and explore how brain development impacts learning and behavior.

Trauma Responsive Schools for Educators Working with Students in Foster Care

The Foster Youth Services Coordinating Program (FYSCP) Community of Practice (CoP) is a casual meeting space open to all FYSCP Coordinators and FYSCP program staff. The meeting is to connect with FYSCP colleagues and members of the Technical Assistance Program (TAP) team to discuss relevant and valuable topics important to the FYSCP community. FYSCP programs are also selected for each meeting to share and highlight their work with attendees.

As a reminder, the CDE team introduced the Foster Youth Data for Academic Success Initiative in Fall 2025. As part of this initiative, optional Questions 38-40 were added to the 2025-26 End-of-Year (EOY) Report. These questions will become mandatory for the 2026-27 EOY Report.
Are you ready to respond? Have you developed practices or strategies that could help support other programs? We encourage you to share your successes and lessons learned with peers who may be facing similar challenges.
Please join us at the FYSCP Community of Practice meeting on October 20th as we discuss the EOY Report Foster Youth Data for Academic Success section. During this session, we will explore how these questions can inform FYSCP program planning, support ongoing reflection, and promote continuous growth and improvement.

FYSCP Regional Meetings
Regional meeting attendance is a grant requirement for all FYSCPs. The meetings are intended for the FYSCP primary coordinator contact. Additional FYSCP lead staff may attend as needed. The FYSCP coordinator should attend the meeting for their designated region whenever possible and may attend one regional meeting for each fall and spring session. The primary FYSCP Coordinator contact must download the Notice of Designee Participation for Required Event Form and send a completed copy to the CDE team at fosteryouth@cde.ca.gov if they are not attending a required event.
